Matt Cox, PhD
Matt Cox, PhD, is the CEO and Executive Director of Greenlink Analytics. Matt provides strategic vision, leadership, management, and organization development. He also contributes domain expertise for Greenlink’s energy and resource analysis software tools and serves as an expert on energy strategy, community engagement, renewable energy and efficiency, and system operations in the electric power sector.
Research performed under his leadership at Greenlink has helped over 200 cities across 37 states and 5 Canadian provinces find strategies to avoid 9 billion tons of CO2 emissions, avoid 32,000 premature deaths from air pollution, enable over 200 equitable policy processes, and save over $1 trillion. His efforts have established Greenlink as a national leader in climate and energy policy.
He is the author of over 100 scientific publications in energy policy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, economic development, and job creation, the social and environmental impacts of energy use, and water policy. His policy recommendations have been adopted by dozens of cities and states, the U.S. government, and 12 other nations.
Matt has served on boards for NIST, the USDOE National Laboratories, the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and numerous climate and sustainability organizations. He has been called as an expert witness dozens of times at state public utility commissions and legislative bodies. Matt holds a PhD in climate and energy policy with a minor in sustainable development from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
